MUSIC MUSIC MUSIC!!!
is the subject of my podcast series in EM&C 4300 Production for New Media. The reasons I picked music are numerous so lets see how many I can list:
1. I plan on working in radio, talk more specifically, and music seems like a good entry point.
2. Music has always been a big influence in my life and of course music is FUN.
3. I work for KTXT, the college's radio station, so there are people to help me on my way as well as access to bands and shows to do my podcasts about.
4. I might get to meet someone famous.
5. Putting together a portfolio is important and you might as well pick a topic you don't have to fain interest in.
6. You will most like never run out of possible material to use. Music, interviews, video.
Those are just to name a few. Nobody else in my class is covering music as an overall topic, but why not......I don't know, I'm not psychic. But I do know that I love music and that I am VERY excited to be working with artists.
The biggest challenge I had while creating my first podcast is probably keeping the audio at a constant level while recording my audio.
I have a few ideas on how to correct this:
Stay still if you have to stop recording so you don't change the distance of the mic.
Rehearse so I don't mess up and have to start over or rerecord a certain section.
Pan volume if you have to. Sometimes you over emphasize a word.
Speak naturally, so it sounds more conversational.
Leave enough time to edit!!!
As for the greatest challenge I expect to face during the making of this series, it would have to be setting up interviews. I expect to be rejected when asking for interviews, but a little persistance will help I'm sure. I also need to get over my little bit of shyness. I'm not always shy, but about this I am. Really not sure why. Finally, planning ahead will certainly make this easier. I think I will have a much better chance, as well as a lot less stress, if I get things done early. There will always be a few suprises that you can't work around. It's best to have a backup plan.

This was a very smooth podcast and I liked that the music was in the background throughout it. It didn't take away from your vocals and there were no obvious unnecessary pauses. Great job.
Very nice podcast. A few grammatical and spelling errors on blog. I like that you are combining what you do in your work with what you do in school because there aren't that many people who have an interest in music that have the opportunity to hear what musicians really feel or think. So I love the topic.
I thought you had a very unique choice for the music used in the intro and outro. I like it because it shows that you are going to discuss a wide variety of music. However, I would have completely turned it off within a few seconds of when you stared talking because the beat of the song clashed with the tempo of your speech. Overall you seem pretty passionate about your topic so I think that it will work well.
nice music. I liked that you kept the music through the background. I did the same and am a fan of that. Nice that your involved with KTXT, should be easy to get sweet interviews! Nice background info. Smooth overall and a good job.
The podcast was cut very nicely. I agree that the background music running throughout the podcast is cool. It is also kind of appropriate for you, since disc jockeys let music play lightly in the background of their show. I look forward to hearing some radio personal and getting to know some good bands.
This was a great pod cast; about the only thing I could say to improve would be the speed. In some places, you slowed down compared to everything else, but that would be all. If you could give some specifics about your series and what to expect, that would be helpful.
Very catchy intro music. The entire podcast was done well. The information was brought out clearly. You did a great job getting someone's attention with the intro to your podcast series. Very well organized and produced.
I love the music and how it matches perfectly with your podcast. You seem very knowledgeable about the topic, and the podcast was very clean. It ran smoothly, and your voice was confident. I'm excited to hear what you have for next time.
I'm a little conflicted on the background music... On the one hand, it relates well with the disc jockey element, but I think the volume might have been a small issue at times during the podcast. It's obvious that you are familiar with your topic, so you should do well.
