MUSIC MUSIC MUSIC!!!
is the subject of my podcast series in EM&C 4300 Production for New Media. The reasons I picked music are numerous so lets see how many I can list:
1. I plan on working in radio, talk more specifically, and music seems like a good entry point.
2. Music has always been a big influence in my life and of course music is FUN.
3. I work for KTXT, the college's radio station, so there are people to help me on my way as well as access to bands and shows to do my podcasts about.
4. I might get to meet someone famous.
5. Putting together a portfolio is important and you might as well pick a topic you don't have to fain interest in.
6. You will most like never run out of possible material to use. Music, interviews, video.
Those are just to name a few. Nobody else in my class is covering music as an overall topic, but why not......I don't know, I'm not psychic. But I do know that I love music and that I am VERY excited to be working with artists.
The biggest challenge I had while creating my first podcast is probably keeping the audio at a constant level while recording my audio.
I have a few ideas on how to correct this:
Stay still if you have to stop recording so you don't change the distance of the mic.
Rehearse so I don't mess up and have to start over or rerecord a certain section.
Pan volume if you have to. Sometimes you over emphasize a word.
Speak naturally, so it sounds more conversational.
Leave enough time to edit!!!
As for the greatest challenge I expect to face during the making of this series, it would have to be setting up interviews. I expect to be rejected when asking for interviews, but a little persistance will help I'm sure. I also need to get over my little bit of shyness. I'm not always shy, but about this I am. Really not sure why. Finally, planning ahead will certainly make this easier. I think I will have a much better chance, as well as a lot less stress, if I get things done early. There will always be a few suprises that you can't work around. It's best to have a backup plan.
